The Texas Poor People's Campaign is a part of the Poor People's Campaign: A National Call For Moral Revival, an organization led by Rev. Dr. William Barber and Rev. Dr. Liz Theoharis. Our organization is carrying on the work of the original 1968 Poor People's Campaign, which was led by Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. We are a moral fusion movement with people from of all faiths and backgrounds who are deeply committed to lifting up and deepening the leadership of those most affected by systemic racism, poverty, the war economy, and ecological devastation and to building unity across lines of division. Our campaign has spent years connecting with communities across the nation, learning from the struggles being waged, gathering testimonies and chronicling demands of hundreds of poor people who demand a better society. Our campaign is motivated by a desire for economic justice: the idea that all people should have what they need to live.
